As a blogger, author, or small business owner, you know that error-free, polished writing is non-negotiable for credibility and ultimately, gaining more readers. When you’re serious about publishing your best work, only a professional editing service will do. I’ve been in the communications field for 20 years, and I know how to create and polish content that your audience will love reading.
Handing over the details to me lets you focus on writing and developing your unique ideas. With confidence in your final product and more time on your hands, you’ll be able to do what you do best – create!
So many of us are publishing our own ebooks, blogs, and websites, yet few of us have a trustworthy, dependable editor at our disposal. But when you work with me, you can feel confident that you’ve got this.
I’ve kept my services simple and straight-forward so that you can zoom in on what works best for you. Choose basic proofreading or in-depth content editing (or both):
The purpose of a basic proofread is to catch surface problems before publishing. If you’re looking for a final run-through to catch these superficial errors, this is the service for you:
- Spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
- Consistency in hyphenation, numerals, fonts, capitalization, and style
- Ambiguous or factually incorrect statements
- Word and language choice
Basic Proofreading includes one editing pass: You accept or reject changes and then return the copy to me for removal of editing marks.
If you’re looking for more substantive edits, you can take it up a notch with content editing!
Content editing is the first step in a comprehensive editing process. Rather than comb through your copy for errors, we’re adding polish and clarity and improving the flow. In the end, is your copy pleasurable to read? If not, you’ll lose readers – and money. Content Editing includes checking for:
- Words or sentences that are extraneous or overused
- Run-on sentences
- Passive vs. active voice
- Redundancies from repeating the same information in different ways
- Paragraphs or dialog that can be tightened
- Scenes where the action is confusing or the author’s meaning is unclear due to rough transitions
- Tonal shifts and unnatural phrasing
- Passages that don’t read well due to bland language use
- Confusing narrative digressions
- Words or phrases that may clarify or enhance your meaning
- Final check of formatting for consistency
Content Editing includes two editing passes:
- Initial edit. You accept or reject changes and answer my questions. Then you will return the copy to me for the second edit.
- Second edit. I incorporate changes or corrections into the copy and answer any questions. Then, if desired, we can move into the Basic Proofreading stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t see your question answered here, just fill out the form below and let’s chat!
Will my content remain confidential?
Absolutely. I’ve also been an online coach for three years and am systematic about maintaining confidentiality. You can trust that only I will see your content.
Will you alter my personal style or verbiage?
You retain full control over your voice, style, and chosen words. With content editing, I will suggest a word or sentence change if there is an error or inconsistency in style. But you always have the choice to reject or accept changes.
How often will I hear from you?
After we’ve determined the type of edit you need and the delivery time frame, we’ll set up a regular check-in schedule, if needed. Otherwise, you’ll hear from me when (1) your edit is completed, (2) there’s an issue to discuss, or (3) if you have a question.
What style guide do you use?
I use the Chicago Manual of Style. (If you have to meet the requirements of a different style guide, we can talk about this.)
